Two men fighting for lives after bloody 49ers-Raiders game violence – San Jose Mercury News.

A 24-year-old man, who was wearing an “(Expletive) the Niners” T-shirt, was shot two to four times in the stomach before driving his truck to Gate A and stumbling to security, said San Francisco police Sgt. Frank Harrell. He was taken to San Francisco General Hospital in critical condition.
Another man in his 20s was shot near Lot V about 20 minutes earlier and had superficial face injuries, Harrell said, and was taken to the same hospital. The first shooting happened shortly after 8 p.m., about 15 minutes after the game ended.
“We are treating it as separate shootings, but we believe they are related,” Harrell said.
Police pulled a man off a party bus before it left the parking lot and are calling him a suspect. He was wearing an Oakland Raiders jersey, Harrell said. All three men attended the game, he said.

This is why I’m okay with the Raiders staying in Oakland and never coming back to L.A. While I realize that many Raiders fans are normal, you have to be in total denial to not admit that there’s a significant number of thugs attracted to the team. In Los Angeles, we can shoot people without the Raiders’ help.

  1. I'm so sick of everyone blaming a nfl franchise for some idiot with a gun. I read on l.a. times about mexicans are at fault for all the violence at stadiums. The truth is we have some dumb people in this world and they don't know how to act. Bringing raiders to l.a. is not going to be the same as before,, cause l.a. isn't the same. All you idiots blaming raiders for violence are just as dumb as the idiots committing the crimes. Its a football team for god sakes, nikes shoes, buicks, nissans, black hood sweaters and levis are all used by gang members, but I don't hear anyone crying about that stuff. Grow up.

  2. Hi Sonny, thanks for reading the blog. Well, I should say thanks for visiting. I don't think you actually read anything past my first sentence.

I said: While I realize that many Raiders fans are normal, you have to be in complete denial to not admit that there's a significant number of thugs attracted to the team. In Los Angeles, we can shoot people without the Raiders' help.

I think that I have now said exactly what you said without calling you an idiot or implying that you are immature. That is, not all Raider fans are violent. The violent fans are violent anyway.

There's no doubt that gangs have latched on to both the Raiders and the Dodgers as ways to identify themselves. I am not a Raiders fan, admittedly. One reason is the team imagery. I am a fan of NFL football, yes, but not of the Raiders. You've seen the “Black Hole” right? I don't see a lot of gang members wearing Chargers gear or Niners gear. For that matter, do you really think a team that chooses a modified skull and crossbones as its logo gets a pass for attracting thuggish fans? Do you know what a “raider” is? The word is infused with connotations of violence. I don't believe this is unintentional and it clearly has attracted people who identify with these ideas.

Truthfully, you're not doing a lot to change the image of Raiderfan by coming on my blog and calling me an idiot and suggesting that I need to grow up. I don't think my post was either idiotic or immature. Nor is my reply to you. For all I know, you are a wonderful person with a family, children, an education and so on… a lot like all of my friends and family who are Raider fans.

  3. first off g.r.,i apologize for calling people idiots, did not intend on a personal attack, but I feel attacked when they refer to raiders fans as thugs.now for a little insight I have on the matter, I am a former gang member, I don't like the raiders cause of image or logos, I like raiders since they drafted marcus allen from usc. Wether you realize it or not the brand starter is what gang members choose, they wear every single team, regardless on what you believe, most gang members are not going to hurt some one over a nfl team, like I said before it's some one that doesn't know how to act, they have found out that incident at game was not cause of teams,it was nortenos and surenos, and just by knowing that, the red shirt of 49ers caused the problem, nortenos use red to fly colors, surenos use blue, raiders colors are actually neutral colors. The public is blind, the public needs to stop reading some article in paper and believe they know what they are talking about, I hope your open minded enough to hear what I'm telling you, raiders have no more gang members as any other teams

  4. Hi Sonny, thanks for that thoughtful reply. I will admit that my gang knowledge is limited. But, I am a high school teacher in Fontana, CA. We have at least three gangs in our area, two of which are predominantly Hispanic. The other is African-American. The Hispanic gangs regularly wear Raider gear to identify themselves, that or the Dodgers. Both of those are to signal to others that they are from L.A. One of them will also wear San Francisco Giants gear because of the SF for South Fontana. Others may wear the L.A. Kings clothing, and they are clearly not hockey fans, trust me. They couldn't tell a crease from a blue line.

So, in my area, our kids definitely use Raiders clothing to represent. We don't see gang members wearing other teams.

I don't mean to say that all Raider fans are thugs, and I have tried to make that clear. I have members of my immediate family that like the Raiders. I am an alumnus of U.S.C. and one reason I don't like the Raiders is because of Al Davis and what he did to Marcus Allen in benching him in the prime of his career. So, personally, I have never really liked the Raiders and I feel like I have good reason to root against them. When Al Davis is no longer the owner, I may change my mind. For now, I am not a fan.

As far as a team for Los Angeles, I want to see us get an expansion team. I don't want some other city's cast off team.
